    AGENDA:

    1. Approval of amendments to the Constitution of SCLAfrica in order to allow the society to be registered with the South African Revenue Services as a non-profit organisation;
    2. Election of committee members and chairperson for 2017/2018
    3. Presentation of audited financial statements;
    4. General.

    MOTIVATION FOR PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO CONSTITUTION: The committee engaged the services of a tax consultancy firm, Cape Tax, in order to assist in the registration of the society with SARS as a non-profit organisation. Cape Tax reviewed the society’s constitution and advised that there are certain respects in which the constitution as presently worded has to be improved in order to meet the requirements of existing tax legislation in order to allow for the society to be registered by SARS as a non-profit organisation. The committee has been advised that the amendments that are track changed on the existing constitution of the society, a link to which can be found below, are required to achieve the aforesaid registration. The committee believes it is in the best interests of the society that these amendments be effected so as to allow the society to be registered accordingly as a non-profit organisation, and a motion to move these amendments will be presented to members at the meeting.
